Roland Adams, Apodissi Junior Community and Content Specialist, represented the company at the second edition of GITEX Nigeria (31 August – 3 September 2026), West Africa’s largest technology and startup show. The value of the event lay less in discovering new technology than in seeing how it is actually being put to work.
One lead is directly relevant to us. Move Payment, a German fintech founded by Mohamed Seddiki, offers a possible route to simplify premium course payments on our Smart Step eLearning platform, a recurring obstacle when selling digital learning across African markets. Equally striking was the multi-venture ecosystem Faith Oladeji is building, which connects people, ideas and ventures into a single coherent operating infrastructure.
The conference programme reinforced a message we recognise from our own projects. In the Sharp Sharp session, speakers argued that startups should adopt artificial intelligence where it solves a clearly defined problem, rather than because the market expects it – a discipline that matters as much in donor-funded programmes as in commercial ventures.
On the main stage, Solomon King of the Lagos Angel Network turned to the gap between having a product and being investable, and to the difficulty founders face in building businesses capable of absorbing capital and scaling on it.
Taken together, these conversations showed an ecosystem moving from enthusiasm to execution, where AI, fintech and digital transformation are increasingly measured against the business problems they solve. Apodissi leaves GITEX with new contacts and a sharper sense of where our knowledge transfer and eLearning work can connect with Nigeria’s technology sector.
