Introduction
Apodissi is a small-medium enterprise with offices in Lagos (Nigeria), Windhoek (Namibia) and Dubai (UAE). It is specialised in knowledge transfer in emerging markets, international innovation and research projects, and development and customisation of industrial technologies. Apodissi is characterised by a strong female presence. In Apodissi we have women collaborating from different locations worldwide, their degrees ranging from Bachelor to PhD. In all our activities we work with a conduct code, we work on inclusion and on a strong work-life balance for all our partners in all the countries.
To guarantee the respect of our Code of Conduct, our Sustainability Plan and our Gender and Equality Plan our team has appointed a Sustainability Manager with a strong experience in this field.
At work to make a difference
At Apodissi, we are constantly looking for ways to make a difference. We have a longstanding commitment to using our expertise to have a positive impact in countries where we are present and beyond. Throughout the years, Apodissi has assisted partners on a variety of issues. To name a few, we have been engaged in developing an E-Learning Platform, disseminating sustainable farming practices, and developing a waste management educational programme. We also help build startup and entrepreneurship ecosystems across Sub Saharan Africa.
Apodissi Sustainability Policy should serve as a guide for our employees to effectively adhere to the company principles in daily operations. However, we acknowledge the differences in maturity levels, strategic priorities, and financial and resource capabilities across all Apodissi offices. Taking into account possible limitations some Apodissi countries may face, we can not require equal environmental impact reduction among all. Yet, environmental consciousness is expected from each team member.
Social Sustainability
At Apodissi, we put people at the core of all we do. We do our best to maximise the positive impact and reduce any adverse effects our operation may have on our employees, clients, partners, and local communities.
Positive social impact: We develop and contribute to local and international projects and initiatives aiming at alleviate social challenges such as: youth unemployment, gender gap in innovation and technologies, women entrepreneurship, lack of educational opportunities.
- Inclusive Work Environment: We foster an inclusive work environment that values diversity and promotes gender equality. This includes maintaining a strong female presence in our workforce and ensuring equal opportunities for all employees.
- Work-Life Balance: We offer flexible working hours and remote working options to support the work-life balance of our employees, especially women and those collaborating from different parts of the world.
- Community Engagement: We are engaged with local communities through outreach programs and partnerships that support education and technology access in emerging markets.
Environmental Sustainability
- Energy Efficiency: Implement energy-efficient practices in our offices, including the use of renewable energy sources where possible.
- Waste Reduction: Minimise waste through recycling programs and the reduction of single-use plastics in our operations. We also run a project on vocational training for circular economy and sustainable waste management.
- Sustainable Innovation: Develop and promote innovation that contribute to environmental sustainability, such as remote expert solution which reduce the need for travels.
- Remote work significantly helps Apodissi in reducing mobility and pollution. By eliminating commuting Apodissi is committed in carbon footprint reduction. Decreased Office Energy Consumption: with fewer employees in the office, energy consumption for heating, cooling, lighting, and office equipment is reduced, decreasing the impact of Apodissi’s workplace.
- Less Business Travel: we encourage our team and our partners to hold virtual meetings and use collaboration tools to reduce the need for business travel and contribute to unnecessary transports emissions.
- Efficient Use of Resources: remote work encourages the use of digital documents and cloud storage, reducing the need for paper and other office supplies. This contributes to waste reduction and smaller footprint.
Partners, Clients and Suppliers: we encourage our business partners to adopt sustainable practices, disseminating the results of our work and sharing sustainable knowledge. - Sustainable procurement practices: we choose sustainable services and supplies (i.e., recycled papers; green certified cloud services etc.) in our procurement practices.
Economic Sustainability
